“Ahead of our final home game of the season, I felt it was the right time to reflect on what has been a remarkable and, at times, unpredictable campaign—certainly one that lives up to Telford Town standards.
Following last season’s incredible treble-winning success, we entered a new league full of confidence and momentum, and we started the season strongly. However, as we all know, football is never straightforward. From December onwards, we experienced significant changes both in management and playing personnel, which inevitably impacted performances and results during a difficult period.
That said, I am immensely proud of how the club responded. We rallied together in the latter stages of the season and pushed hard towards the playoffs, narrowly missing out in the end. Despite that disappointment, we have secured the highest league finish in the club’s 76-year history, across both Wellington Amateurs and Telford Town—a truly outstanding achievement.
I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to Matthew Boswell and his backroom team for everything they achieved during their time at the club. I also want to thank Steve Hinks, who stepped into a very challenging situation and gave everything for the club, as well as Graham Jones and Shaun Ralph, who helped guide us back into contention. Of course, none of this would be possible without the players, volunteers, and our incredible supporters, who have backed us every step of the way—win, lose, or draw.
Our women’s team still have one final fixture to play, but to secure a third-place finish in their first season at Tier 6 following promotion is a fantastic achievement. It took time to adapt, but their progress and performances have been outstanding, and the future is incredibly bright. My thanks go to Elys Brooks-Davies, Matt Jones, and everyone involved in the women’s section, along with the players, volunteers, and supporters who continue to drive that side of the club forward.
Our Disability and inclusive football section played their first game this season and has grown week on week, I cannot thank Chris Lowe and Riley Lowe enough for what they have done with the teams and a huge thank you to the players who have come week in week out and play with a genuine smile on their face.
When it comes to our pathway sides, I can honestly say I am blown away. From our youngest Under-7s through to the senior reserves, we have a huge number of players representing this football club every single week. But it’s about more than just wearing the badge—it’s about being part of a unified club. Seeing so many young players, parents, and coaches around the ground supporting the wider club is something truly special.
With several pathway teams reaching cup semi-finals and finals in the coming weeks, I want to wish them all the very best—go and enjoy those moments. A huge thank you goes to every player, coach, volunteer, and parent for your commitment. I would also like to give special recognition to Ray and Sarah Lindsay, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. The growth of our pathway, across both men’s and women’s football, is something we are incredibly proud of and excited about moving forward.
On a personal note, this has been a season of real highs and lows. There have been a number of departures, both on and off the pitch, and it’s important to recognise those who have played a significant role in shaping the club. I would like to thank Mickey Baker, Lee Mitchell, Mark Conway, and Brian Herbert for their contributions and the foundations they helped build.
I must also thank our fantastic Wednesday Crew, who dedicate their time week in, week out to maintaining our ground. They are the backbone of this football club.
Finally, I want to acknowledge my fellow board members. In non-league football, being part of a board is not about prestige—it’s about hard work, commitment, and doing whatever is required to keep the club running. Whether it’s marking pitches, working turnstiles, running the bar, or handling administration, these individuals give an incredible amount of time and effort.
My sincere thanks go to my Vice Chairmen: Nick Locke and Adam Wilson, Club Secretary Rach Green, Head of Women’s Football Elys Brooks-Davies, Director of Football Ray Lindsay, Susan Moore, Chris Moore and my wife, Abbie Dando, for her unwavering support
Looking ahead, there are very exciting times on the horizon for this football club. We have some major announcements planned over the summer—one in particular that will play a huge role in shaping our future. I look forward to sharing more on that in due course.
For now, I want to thank everyone who has supported Telford Town throughout the 2025/26 season—our sponsors, volunteers, players, coaches, and supporters.
We look forward to welcoming you all back for an even bigger and better 2026/27 season.
Up the Town.”
