As National Volunteers Week begins, we wanted to take a moment, on behalf of everybody at Telford Town FC, to thank the incredible people who give their time, energy and passion to this football club.
Football clubs at our level simply do not survive without volunteers. Every training session, every matchday, every event and every success story is built on the efforts of people who choose to give up their evenings, weekends and spare time for the benefit of others.
We would like to pay special tribute to people such as Nick Locke and Rachel Green, who not only serve as Joint Vice Chairman and Club Secretary respectively, but also dedicate countless hours coaching the Telford Town Dynamos.
To Ray Lindsay and Sarah Lindsay, whose hard work has helped create a genuine football pathway through our youth section and provided opportunities for hundreds of young players.
To Elys Brooks-Davies, whose commitment, passion and leadership has helped give women’s football in Shropshire a real shot in the arm whilst continuing to drive our women’s section forward.
To Adam Wilson, who balances his responsibilities as Joint Vice Chairman whilst also dedicating his time to coaching one of our youth teams.
To Chris Lowe, who built our disability and inclusive football section from the ground up and continues to provide opportunities that simply would not exist without his dedication.
To Our club photographer Luigi who works so hard for us travelling and capturing moments that would otherwise be lost.
To our fantastic Wednesday crew – Dave Tranter, Mick Burrows, Roger Powell, Len Crane, Ray Evans and Martin Tranter – who work tirelessly behind the scenes to improve our facilities and keep the club moving forward.
To Mitch Mason, whose hard work as First Team Kitman often goes unseen but is vital in ensuring everything is prepared and ready for our players and management team.
To supporters such as Diane Sargent, Charlie Sargent and Dave Stones, who are always willing to lend a hand, whether that’s transporting players, watering pitches, helping around the ground or simply doing whatever needs doing.
To every youth coach, secretary, volunteer, parent, fundraiser, committee member, bar worker, gate volunteer, grounds volunteer and supporter who contributes to Telford Town FC in any way.
And finally, to those we may not have mentioned by name. Please do not mistake omission for lack of appreciation. The reality is that there are simply too many incredible people to list individually.
Telford Town FC is not built by chairmen or money.
It is built by volunteers.
It is built by coaches opening up the ground on cold winter nights.
It is built by parents washing kits and running raffles.
It is built by people watering pitches in the middle of summer.
It is built by secretaries answering messages late at night.
It is built by people giving up their weekends to stand behind a bar, work a gate, mark a pitch or drive players across the county.
It is built by ordinary people doing extraordinary things for their community.
Quite simply, without our volunteers, there is no Telford Town FC.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
