Telford Town Appoint Experienced Duo to Lead U18 Ladies Team

Adrian Davies1 Jul - 07:59

Ladies section continues to grow

Both bring a wealth of experience in youth and girls’ football, with proven track records in player development, competitive success, and long-term commitment to the growth of the women’s game.

Matt Fulcher joins after spending the last five seasons coaching within the AFC Telford United girls’ setup, working across the Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Central Warwickshire leagues. His standout achievement came during the 2021/22 season, when he led the U13 girls to a remarkable league and cup double in the Staffordshire League.

Jamie Anderson brings over 13 years of grassroots coaching experience, primarily with Albrighton FC, where he has worked with both boys’ and girls’ teams. Over the past 7 years, he has led the club’s Wildcats Development Group, helping nurture the next generation of female footballers. Jamie is UEFA B Licensed, holds the FA Youth Award, and is a Level 2 Goalkeeping Coach. His coaching CV includes stints with Shrewsbury Town Women, Wolves RTC, Telford United Girls, and the West Bromwich Albion Development Centre, alongside running various school and after-school programmes.

Elys Brooks-Davies, Head of Women’s Football at Telford Town, praised the appointments:

“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Matt and Jamie into the fold. Their combined experience, passion, and commitment to female player development aligns perfectly with the vision we have for the U18 ladies. This is a key age group for transitioning into senior football, and with their leadership, we’re confident the squad will thrive both on and off the pitch.”

Hayden Dando, Chairman of Telford Town FC, added:

“This appointment underlines our ambition to build one of the strongest and most supportive female football pathways in the region. Both Matt and Jamie embody the values of Telford Town — development, integrity, and opportunity — and I’m excited to see the U18 ladies progress under their guidance.”

The U18 Ladies will begin pre-season training in July, with open sessions planned for interested players who want to be part of a forward-thinking, competitive setup. More information will be shared soon via our social channels.
