The experienced midfielder becomes one of Mike Dunn’s first additions since taking charge and adds further quality, creativity and experience to the Telford squad.

Cooper has spent a significant part of his career with Darlaston and arrives with extensive experience across Midlands non-league football.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Cooper has also demonstrated considerable versatility during his career and has operated in several positions when required. He has been a regular part of Darlaston’s first-team setup and was still featuring prominently for the club during the opening weeks of the current season.

His connection with Darlaston stretches back several years. During the 2019/20 campaign, Cooper produced six goals and eight assists in just 18 appearances across two spells, finishing as the club’s leading assist provider.

That creativity has been a consistent feature of his game. Darlaston match reports over the years regularly record Cooper creating goals from open play and set pieces, providing crosses from both sides and contributing goals himself.

Cooper has also previously played higher up the non-league pyramid.

In December 2018 he made the step from Darlaston to Hednesford Town, then operating in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. His Hednesford debut could hardly have gone better: introduced from the bench away at North Ferriby United, Cooper scored a 95th-minute winner to secure a 2-1 victory for the Pitmen.

He subsequently moved from Hednesford to Spalding United, where he made an immediate impact as one of three new arrivals in a remarkable 7-3 victory against promotion-chasing Pontefract Collieries. Contemporary reports described Cooper as operating in midfield during that spell.

Cooper later returned to Darlaston and has remained a familiar figure in the Black Country non-league scene.

His arrival continues the early reshaping of the first-team squad under new manager Mike Dunn, who has moved quickly to add proven quality to the group.

Speaking about the signing, Dunn said:

“Isaac is a player I’ve known about for a long time and someone I believe can make a real difference for us.

He has quality on the ball, creates opportunities and gives us versatility in a number of areas. He’s played higher, knows this level and knows what is required in this part of the non-league game.

We want to add players who improve us straight away and Isaac certainly does that. I’m really pleased to get him in.”
