Telford Town are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced central defender Tom Morris.

The 31-year-old arrives at the Lionheart Security Services Stadium with an extensive footballing CV and considerable experience from higher levels of the non-league pyramid.

Tom began his career with Port Vale before moving to Ireland with Longford Town, where he was part of the side that won the League of Ireland First Division title in 2014.

After returning to England, Morris went on to represent Stafford Rangers, Kidsgrove Athletic and Congleton Town, before further spells in the Northern Premier League with Hyde United, City of Liverpool and Macclesfield.

More recently, Tom has represented Stockport Town, Sandbach United and 1874 Northwich, having previously worn the captain’s armband at Stockport.

Morris joined 1874 Northwich in 2024 and became an important part of a side which enjoyed an excellent campaign at Step 5, reaching the Midland Football League Premier Division play-off final.

A commanding centre-half who is strong in the air and comfortable in possession, Tom also provides a threat from set pieces and brings considerable experience and leadership to the Telford squad.

Manager Mike Dunn said:

“Tom brings a huge amount of experience and leadership to us.

“He’s played at a very good level for a long time, he’s strong, composed on the ball and reads the game really well.

“He knows what it takes to compete at the top end of leagues and I’m delighted to get him into the group. I think he’ll be a really important player for us.”

Everyone at Telford Town would like to welcome Tom to the club.

WELCOME TO TELFORD, TOM!
