Telford Town Football club would like to join the EFL, national pyramid and grassroots clubs in condemning this decision that was made with the interests of those wealthy top flight clubs the only taken into account.

Our chairman Hayden Dando said “As a step 7 club we aren’t eligible to gain entry to the FA Cup however as an ambitious club one of our aims is to appear in the worlds oldest cup competition and we want to do so for the prestige that comes with appearing in it rather than seeing it devalued to suit a handful of wealthy billionaires.For the handful of non league clubs who make it to the first round proper replays can be a huge financial windfall that keeps them going for years, whilst those wealthy clubs higher up see it as an inconvenience that doesn’t cover the cost of one of their players car insurance costs football isn’t THEIR game football is a game for everybody and we as a club condemn the changes wholeheartedly as those in the FA again show why people are turning their backs on the full time game to watch non league football as whilst we don’t have executive boxes with free champagne, prawn sandwiches and half and half scarves non league football is honest”.
