Telford Town turn their attention to cup football tomorrow afternoon as AFC Bridgnorth make the trip to the Lionheart Security Services Stadium for a local derby in the First Round of the Macron Cup.

After a challenging few weeks in the league, tomorrow provides Mike Dunn and his side with an opportunity to put recent results behind them and produce a positive performance in front of the home support.

The Ams come into the game following last weekend’s 2–0 home defeat against Barnton, but there have been plenty of changes behind the scenes as Dunn continues to shape his squad for the weeks and months ahead.

Among the recent arrivals is experienced midfielder Charlie Swingwood, who could come up against one of his former clubs tomorrow. Swingwood previously represented AFC Bridgnorth and captained the club, adding an extra subplot to an already intriguing local cup tie.

He was one of three new arrivals announced by Telford last week, alongside goalkeeper Adam Jenkins and Lukman Darboe-Suwareh, as the club looks to strengthen the squad and begin climbing the North West Counties League First Division South table.

Tomorrow, however, league positions and points are put to one side.

Cup football brings a different challenge, and with a place in the next round at stake, both sides will be determined to extend their involvement in the competition.

For Telford, it is also another opportunity to build momentum at the Lionheart Security Services Stadium. The club has already enjoyed one memorable cup afternoon at home this season, defeating Darlaston Town on penalties in the FA Vase following a 1–1 draw.

The FA Vase journey may now be over following the defeat to Bewdley Town, but the Macron Cup presents another opportunity for the Ams to enjoy a cup run.

With two local sides going head-to-head and everything decided on the day, there should be plenty to look forward to.
