With Telford going into the game high in spirit and top of the league expectations were high for this game against Dudley Sports who find themselves nearing the bottom of the table but Dudley had other plans.
In the early part of the game you can see Telford are the attacking force, with a number of shots attempted before the goal finally arrived in the 18th minute. A foul on Essa Faburay allowed Ryan Mansell the chance to score from the free kick, as he nestled the ball into the top corner.
It could have been 2 not long afterwards when a penalty claim in the 22nd minute was waved away and Telford missing the target in the following attack.
The first half continued with Telford creating chances but stern defending stopping any further goals.
The 2nd half continued the same with Telford now pushing for a 2nd goal, 3 substitutions at the 62nd minute seemed to give the team a boost before Dudleys James Westwood received his 2nd yellow card and a red for a petulant pull on a shirt after losing the ball, this seemed to galvanise the opposition who began pushing hard against the Telford backline.
As expected in a tight game it then became niggly, with repeated fouls from both sides however Dudley looked dangerous on the counterattack. Telford continued to attack but were limited to long range efforts.
With the blistering start to the season a 1-0 win seems an unlikely prospect, but a combination of stubborn defending by Sports kept the score a 1-0 and Telford took the 3 points home.
