TELFORD TOWN U14s 2-1 SINCLAIR

TEAM EFFORT SEES TELFORD TAKE ALL THREE POINTS

A really strong all-round team performance saw Telford Town U14s claim a deserved 2-1 victory over Sinclair.

Telford were on top for much of the contest, producing a dominant first-half display before showing plenty of character after the break to respond to an equaliser and find the winning goal.

FIRST HALF

Telford started brightly and quickly took control of the game.

For the opening 30 minutes the lads dominated proceedings, enjoying the majority of possession and creating the better opportunities while remaining organised and disciplined at the other end.

The defensive work was particularly impressive. Sinclair were restricted to just two efforts on goal during the half as Telford worked hard as a team to win the ball back and prevent the opposition from building any sustained pressure.

For all their dominance, the one thing missing was a goal.

That finally arrived with just two minutes of the half remaining when Fin Thompson found the breakthrough to give Telford the lead their performance deserved.

It was the perfect reward for an excellent opening half and ensured Telford went into the break with their noses in front.

SECOND HALF

Telford were a little slower out of the blocks after the restart and Sinclair took advantage.

The visitors were handed an opportunity to get themselves back into the game when Telford conceded a penalty, and Sinclair made no mistake from the spot to level the scores.

The response from Telford was excellent.

Rather than allowing the equaliser to knock them, the lads got back to work and gradually began to take control of the game again.

They worked hard for one another, continued creating the majority of the chances and kept pushing for the goal that their overall performance deserved.

With less than ten minutes remaining, the pressure finally paid off.

Archie Lindsay found the net to restore Telford's lead and put them within touching distance of all three points.

There was still work to do, but Telford managed the closing stages superbly.

Rather than simply sitting back and inviting pressure, they remained composed, continued looking to attack and even fashioned another couple of opportunities before the final whistle.

At the other end they stayed calm and organised, seeing the game out professionally to make sure all three points stayed with Telford.

FULL TIME - TELFORD TOWN U14s 2-1 SINCLAIR

An excellent team performance and a thoroughly deserved result.

Telford were dominant for long periods, defended well as a unit and, when they suffered the setback of Sinclair's equaliser, showed the character and work rate required to regain the lead.

Perhaps most pleasingly, once they got themselves back in front they showed real composure to manage the remainder of the game rather than simply hanging on.

No individual award this week - this was one earned by the entire squad.
